School’s out and the little ones are ready to kick up the summer fun into high gear. With sunny skies and great weather, outdoor summer fun will be had by all. Here are three quick tips to keep the kids safe all summer long and let you relax as well:

Head inside for grey skies

Rainy days happen, but lightning is very dangerous and when it strikes its currents can run pretty far. Be sure to remind your kids to head inside when they spot lightning.

Power down, call for help!

Power lines can sometimes be knocked down due to stormy weather and fallen trees but they can still be very active and hazardous to your health. Children are often naturally curious but it’s important for them to never touch or play around a power line. If you spot one, please maintain a safe distance and phone a professional electrician!

If you want to post signs, avoid the power lines

As you prepare for your summer cook-out, yard sale, or pool party, be mindful where you post your signs. Never attach signs, posters or hang banners on utility poles. This can endanger you and utility workers. If you have questions about this, you can always call your local electrician for help.
